Democratic Alliance (DA) party leader and premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille, was the guest speaker at a SA-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry member luncheon. This prestigious event was hosted by Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa on September 30, 2009, which is part of the Hotels, Spas & Vineyards collection of boutique hotels in the Western Cape.
Over one-hundred people from the business community and members of the press gathered to hear Mrs Zille, who willingly took questions from the floor. She told delegates how the Western Cape economy was four billion rand in the red when her party took over; since then it has written off 1.5 billion in service arrears for the very poor and invested ten billion rand annually. Education, closely followed by health care, are the primary social issues Mrs Zille is tackling in her term of office, as well as being tough on corruption.
Hosting this high profile event has introduced the variety of leisure opportunities available at Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa to some very influential business people. Wine tasting from neighbouring wine estates, Lourensford and Morgenster, was offered to guests, which is one of the many attractions in the area surrounding Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa.
