Room 40: Erinvale’s ‘Giving Room’ is More Special Than You Think

Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ GIFTTS initiative means guests can give back to the Helderberg community – just by booking a stay.

If you’ve stayed in Room 40 at Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa you’ll know that it is very special. Also known as the ‘Erinvale Suite’ it has a spacious en-suite bedroom, separate, open-plan dining and lounge area (with a beautiful fireplace as its centerpiece) and doors which open out onto our gardens, including Chef’s herb garden and Erinvale Spa’s pool and patio.

But what you might not know, is that Room 40 is also our ‘Giving Room’, whereby for every night occupied 5% of the room’s revenue is donated to registered non-profit organisations that help uplift vulnerable children, adults in need, and stray or sick animals in the Helderberg community.

One of our main beneficiaries is the Imibala Trust – an equally special NGO doing fantastic work in the Helderberg community, particularly when it comes to improving the lives of impoverished, disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

The Giving Room is part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts GIFTTS initiative (or Great Initiatives for Today’s [Tomorrow’s] Society), and as a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts L.V.X. Collection we’re proud to throw our support behind their philanthropic efforts, which are focused on making real, sustainable societal change.

And we can’t think of a more deserving beneficiary than Imibala Trust. Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa works closely with Imibala, including supporting their ‘Learner Advancement’ programme by placing hospitality students in intern positions within the hotel, helping them gain the skills and on-the-job experience needed to secure future employment. But Imibala has a range of programmes, including:

  • Sponsor-a-Child, an initiative to restore the dignity and self esteem of vulnerable children. It ensures school-going children in need always have a full school uniform (school tracksuit, a pair of leather school shoes, a jersey, a rain jacket, socks, underwear and a t-shirt) and a school bag with the stationery required to participate, learn and thrive!
  • Creative & Performing Arts Programme, which encourages children to discover and develop creative skills in a way that is not always possible at school (while building their confidence, teaching them life skills, and ensuring they have some much-needed fun!).
  • A Volunteer Programme, which ensures Imibala’s skilled and passionate volunteers are able to bring excellence and energy to everything they do – supporting the Trust’s programme delivery every single day.

Imibala works hard to address and overcome the effects of persistent poverty in some of South Africa’s poorest communities. The Giving Room – and your contribution – will help ensure that children can go to school happily, safely and with dignity. Changing their future for the better.

If you’re heading to the Cape Winelands, consider a stay at Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa and ask for Room 40. You’ll being helping us give back to the community one room night at a time.

Imibala Trust is a registered not-for-profit organization (NPO 046-758) with PBO status (PBO number 93001 7783), ensuring transparency and accountability.
